RESPONSIBILITIES:
The incumbent will be responsible for:
• Assisting in the executing of internal audits within the University in terms of the annual Internal Audit Plan as approved by the Audit, IT and Risk Management Committee of Council and reporting thereon;
• Assisting in the executing of special investigations requested by Senior Management, Executive Management and the Audit, IT and Risk Management Committee and reporting thereon;
• Assisting in report writing.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• B Com (Hons) in Internal Auditing;
• Knowledge of the theory of:
    o Audit processes and methodologies; and
    o Standards of the Institute of Internal Auditors.

• Skills in MS Excel and MS Word;
• Ability and sophistication to liaise with various levels of management and members of staff, where applicable;
• Ability to meet demanding targets within tight deadlines;
• Writing and analytical skills;
• Ability to work in a team;
• Appropriate language and communication skills;
• Interpersonal and negotiation skills.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
• Working towards obtaining a professional internal audit qualification, i.e. the Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) qualification;
• Exposure to internal/external audit;
• Relevant experience at a higher education Institution.
The total remuneration package for this contract position ranges from approximately R 228 927 to R 274 593 as determined by UP policy guidelines.
The remuneration for this contract post excludes medical aid and provident fund benefits as determined by UP policy guidelines.

FNB Fund Bursary Programme

If you are someone that works hard at your academics but can't afford to study at a tertiary level, you might want to look into the FNB Fund Bursary Programme. It provides tertiary education access for learners who are academically capable but financially disadvantaged. An FNB Fund sponsored bursary administred by Studietrust is a partial bursary. The value of the bursary in 2012 is R39 425 per annum.
Eligility:
  • Although it is an open bursary programme, the following selection criteria apply:
  • Bursars must demonstrate academic potential;
  • Bursars must demonstrate financial need;
  • Applicants may not be excluded on the basis of race, gender or disability;
  • Applicants who have completed their matric / NSC more than two years prior to application will not be considered;
  • Bursars must be South African citizens;
  • There is a bias towards selecting female bursars;
  • There is a bias towards rural students and historically disadvantaged communities;
  • Funding may only be awarded for fulltime study;
  • It is the intention of the Fund to include people with a disability on the Programme; and
  • The Fund will consider support for students who are registered for undergraduate studies only, with the exception of Honours in Accounting which must include courses to enable the bursar to qualify as a Chartered Accountant.
